Clear Blue 22 "Wild in the West"
Album: Wild in the West
Artist: Clear Blue 22
Label: Back to One Records
Overall Grade: A+

Are you looking for something with a bit of rockin’ side and just plain fun to turn up? Clear Blue 22’s new album “Wild in the West” is definitely one to pick up and take a listen to. This group is one of those fun independent bands that deserve to be on a major label somewhere touring the entire country.

The band combines country music with a bit of a rock sound, yet holding tradition of good country music strong. This high paced listen is full of some great original music. Lead vocalist Jasmine West is full of power and true connection with the listener. Very word sung by this group just puts a smile on the face. The flow and great feel to the album must be contributed not only to the great band and vocals, but its producer Ted Hewitt that has worked with Rodney Atkins.

One of the biggest things I think about when hearing this album is how exciting this band would be on stage. I can just imagine the crowd loving each and every song, even if they have never heard it before. The title track leads the album and perfectly sets you up for a good time. The style of music stays exactly the same through out the album, and moves fast. So fast, you will probably re-start it immediately. 10 tracks from this group just isn’t enough it seems.

This rockin’ album takes all the great country music topics on…heartbreak, love, and all those in between, its here. A song like “Slow Burn” still keeps the upbeat tempo, yet hits hard in a song about heartbreak. “I Would Have Missed You” may be one of my favorites from the album, behind the title track. With a bit of a bluegrass feel, the song talks about if things in life didn’t happen the way they did, that “right one” wouldn’t have come along.

If you like your country a bit more high paced, Clear Blue 22 is for you, no doubt.
