Joey Daniels "Take Me Off the Market"
Album: Take Me Off the Market
Artist: Joey Daniels
Label: Big3 Nashville
Date: September 13, 2005
Grade: B

Joey Daniels has a voice that grabs your attention right in the beginning of her debut release from Big 3 Records Nashville. A strong influence of a Wynonna Judd (“Crazier than Usual”) meets Shania Twain (“Kiss-n-Tell”) with an even more apparent individual sound is alive and well in Daniels.

The album highlighted with a great lyric and her soul-filled vocal presence on “I’ll Be Your Whiskey” which has all the makings of a successful radio single. Her first single, “Swinging Door” is also a highlight of the album and a perfect choice to showcase what is in store from Daniels throughout the album. “Without You” ends the album and my respect for the album goes up one more level. The song, co-written by Daniels (as she does on 8 of the 13,) displays that she is country to the bone.

Daniels’ style is not exactly what I would describe as unique in the today’s country music community, and in this instance, this is not a bad thing. A nice diverse mixture of country influenced pop-like singles (“This is Me Missing You”) and soulful ballads (“Miracle”) fill this album. Daniels’ is perfect for this style and makes for an enjoyable.

What you hear from her is exactly her and nothing less. If no one else was creating a sound similar to this, she would be doing it anyway, because it is Daniels’ style and persona.

“Take Me off the Market” is a very suiting title for the album in that I would have no problem recommending that you pick up a copy of this album and enjoy someone that loves what she has produced.
